National Music Therapy Month 2014

Posted by admin on February 1, 2014

AMTA_logo_2.pngFebruary is National Music Therapy Advocacy Month!

All over Colorado and the nation, music therapists work together to increase public awareness of music therapy.

The project in February of 2014 is called the Social Media Advocacy Project, in which music therapists from all over the United States create blogs, podcasts, video blogs, and newsletters centered around the theme "We are...".  The theme this year will honor the profession of music therapy as distinct and unique from other types of therapy, working toward the overall goal of increasing legislature in each state so that individuals can have easier access to music therapy services.

If you are interested in hearing what other music therapists from across the country have to say, visit: http://musictherapystaterecognition.blogspot.com/2013/12/2014-social-media-advocacy-project.html.

Not only is Music Therapy Advocacy month a great way for music therapists to interact and make contact with one another, but also for clients receiving music therapy services to spread the word about music therapy to their family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances.  If you have a great story about the way music therapy has impacted your life or the life of your child, please spread the word to a friend or email your story to katestjohn@neurorhythm.com.  We are always eager to hear how music therapy has made an impact, and then post the story on our website for others to see.

Another event happening in February is the Online Conference for Music Therapy.  This worldwide, online conference is 24 hours long and will begin on February 8th, 2014 Greenwich time, which is February 7th at 5pm mountain time.  Many music therapists from around the world will be giving presentations on different aspects of music therapy, covering topics from infant care to hospice care and every stage of life in between.  If you are interested in learning more about the conference, please visit this website: http://onlineconferenceformusictherapy.com/

And, as always, if you have any further questions about music therapy or the services that NeuroRhythm offers, please contact us here.
